The Regionalverband Ruhr is taking things to the next level in location marketing. “The right place. The right time.” is about not missing out on the next big opportunity – by taking a closer look at the Ruhr metropolitan region. Because the Ruhr is going to make this decade one that really counts.
The Ruhr metropolitan region is looking to the future with optimism. And there’s a reason for that: the time is rife with opportunities for an economic boom. Of that there can be no doubt, as the results of a comparative analysis of Germany’s seven largest metropolitan regions – among them the Ruhr – indicate.
Despite this great potential, however, the study also showed what the region lacked: an updated image. The ideas people have in their heads about the Ruhr have long since lost their relevance. With this new phase of location marketing, we want to get rid of those old ideas. For the study proves: the Ruhr region is multifaceted and diverse – and offers more space for recreation, leisure, and sports than any other metropolitan region in the ranking. In particular, the region is home to both a dense scientific network as well as an industrial sector with a long tradition. This creates synergies that generate new dynamism in driving forward future-oriented structural change.
Since the 2017 launch of the campaign, we have given this message a good foundation: a modern appearance and a strong brand. The year 2020 marks the beginning of a new decade and is thus the perfect time to set our sights even more strongly on the future. We think: don’t get there too late, or you’ll miss out on the Ruhr.
